NJP/Bagdogra → Dhotrey (8,500 ft)
Pick-up from NJP railway station or Bagdogra airport in the morning.
Scenic 4–5 hours drive via Mirik & Manebhanjan, passing through tea gardens and pine forests.
Reach Dhotrey village – gateway to Singalila National Park.
Evening walk around the village for acclimatization.
Overnight: Homestay in Dhotrey
Highlights: Mountain hamlet, pine forests, starlit sky, local Nepali hospitality.
Dhotrey → Tonglu (10,000 ft) → Tumling (9,600 ft)
After breakfast, start your hike (approx. 6–7 km / 3–4 hrs).
Walk through rhododendron, magnolia & pine forest.
Reach Tonglu for panoramic Kanchenjunga views (on a clear day, you can even see parts of the Everest range).
Continue to Tumling, a peaceful Nepalese border village just 2 km away.
Activities:
Watch the sunset over the Sleeping Buddha range.
Enjoy tea at a Nepali lodge overlooking the valley.
Overnight: Homestay or eco-lodge in Tumling.
Tumling → Dhotrey → NJP/Bagdogra
Wake early for the sunrise over Kanchenjunga from Tumling viewpoint.
After breakfast, hike down to Dhotrey (2–3 hrs, all downhill).
Drive back to NJP/Bagdogra (4–5 hrs).
Trip ends by evening.
